Deb Ritter was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999 - two
short years after her mother, Boydine Lightner, died of the
disease. The support of her family, friends, and co-workers
was crucial to her during her treatment. They not only helped
with the mundane tasks of living, but most importantly they
shared her journey and lifted her up in countless ways.
She was also blessed to have cancer survivor Christi Scherrer
as her sweet mentor, providing guidance and hope for a
positive outcome. The ongoing support from her circle of
support
freed Deb to focus her positive energy on the
physical, emotional, and spirititual challenges she faced.
As a survivor, she followed Christi's example and mentored
other women with cancer. She hoped to encourage them with
the positive fighting attitude that helped her survive
and thrive.

In 2005, Deb co-founded Inspirations, Ink LLC with Jan Tracy,
a graphic product designer. Jan was a supporter of her parents,
who are both cancer survivors. Deb hoped to inspire others with
the life-changing lessons she learned during her journey - to let
your life unfold and to live each day fully, with gratitude.

Another important aspect of the company is that a portion of
the proceeds will benefit cancer prevention!

"Our intention is to empower you with our products, 'Just
for Today' inspirations,
and supporter tips. Whether your
need is for yourself, a friend, a co-worker, or a family member,
we hope that women everywhere will be encouraged to 'fight
like a woman'!

ORIGINS OF "FIGHT LIKE A WOMAN™"

It all started with Susan Miller. She was diagnosed with
breast cancer in 1998. She and her friend, Kate Faerber,
were taking a kick-boxing class at the time. It seemed only
natural for Kate to encourage her friend by reminding her to
"fight like a girl". Fortunately, Susan is still surviving and
thriving in Kansas City.

After Deb's diagnosis, her dear friend Paula Fagan
founded a walking team, including her friends Margie Fagan,
Joan Unger, and Mimi Nagle. They adopted Susan's "Fight
Like a Girl" phrase
as their team name (with her blessing).
Since then they have proudly carried their "Fight Lke a Girl"
banner (displaying the 150+ names of the women they walk for)
in 6 national breast cancer walks...totaling 400+ miles. They
have raised over $100,000 for breast cancer research! Things
came "full circle" later for Deb when she was able to walk with
them in two of these events. Their team has expanded and
they continue to walk for the cause, as they prepare for
their 7th event in 2006.

"Participating in the national walks has not only been a
wonderful bonding experience
for my team...but has allowed
us to meet women who truly demonstrate the 'Fight like a Girl'
spirit
". They personify a woman's innate power to fight with
passion and courage!" says Paula.

Once Deb's treatment was finished, she borrowed their "Fight
Like a Girl" phrase to encourage the women she mentored.
"This powerful phrase really struck a chord with them...
empowering them to fight with courage and hope" according
to Deb.

Then Marva Eberhart, a life-long friend, founded a gift line
of products to comfort women with cancer, as her positive way
of responding to Deb's diagnosis. Marva's path took another
direction, but her wonderful idea remained in Deb's thoughts.

"In 2005, I felt inspired to revive Marva's concept and secured
approval to use the empowering "Fight Like a Girl" phrase as
the company name. When Jan and I formed the company, we
tweaked it to "Fight Like a Woman"...reflecting the
womanly strength needed to face a challenge!" say Deb.

Kate, Susan, Paula, Christi, the "Fight Like a Girl" team, and
Marva are all women of passion...battling with heart to support
other women facing challenges. Jan and Deb's mission is to
expand upon their rich legacy, to inspire women everywhere
to "Fight Like a Woman"!!!
